What this is

YenTake is a free calculator that estimates the take-home pay of an employee in Japan. There is nothing to buy, nothing to sign up for, and no account. You may use it for anything, including at work, and you may link to it.

It is an estimate, not tax advice

The rates, tables and rules used are the published ones for the 2026 tax year (令和8年分), read from the National Tax Agency, the Japan Health Insurance Association, the Japan Pension Service and the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, and the sources are listed on the calculator itself. Even so, a calculator cannot know your circumstances. It does not model company health societies, public-sector mutual aid, a second employer, foreign-source income, deductions you claim yourself, or anything about your visa. Every year in a timeline is computed with the 2026 rules, including years for which newer tables exist or newer law has been passed; the calculator’s own page lists what that costs you in accuracy.

Nothing here is advice from a licensed tax professional, and using it does not create any professional relationship. For a decision that matters — an offer, a tax return, leaving Japan with a bill outstanding — ask a 税理士 (licensed tax accountant) or your municipal office. To the extent the law allows, this site is provided as it is, with no warranty, and Tekiba is not liable for a decision made on the strength of a number it produced.

Availability and changes

The site may change or go away without notice, and the figures will change when the tables do — Japanese tax years begin in January and the insurance rates in March and April, so expect the numbers to move at least annually. There is no commitment to keep any particular result stable.
